Story

1 in 700 babies are born with a cleft lip and/or palate globally. 

Unfortunately, not every child born with cleft can get access to cleft repair surgeries.

Life can be rough to children living with clefts. Not only do they face difficulties in eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking, oftentimes they also struggle when it comes to dealing with community and end up living in isolation.


Did you know cleft lip and palate is a solvable problem? 

Cleft repair surgery is simple, and the transformation is immediate. Cleft surgery can take as little as 45 minutes.

Smile Train, an international children’s charity, has a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate.

Its sustainable model provides training, funding, and resources to empower local doctors in 85+ countries to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities.
