THE CAMELBIKE RUN
in partnership with Gulf for Good
14th to 28th May, 2022
Wild Atlantic Way, West Coast of Ireland
Cycling 2,599km from Derry to Kinsale in 14 days to raise funds for
Soft Power Education in Uganda
Founded in 2021 by a group of triathlete friends based in Dubai and the Netherlands, The Camelbike Run is a yearly endurance challenge undertaken with the sole aim to raise funds for Children’s charities.
The Camelbike Run was inspired by the success of two events completed by Jimmy and Jeroen. In 2018 they hiked the Druk Trail in Bhutan with Gulf for Good, raising a large amount of money for Mission Himalaya, an eco- home for orphaned children in Nepal. In 2019, the duo, joined by 27 colleagues at GCC Services, completed a half marathon in Abu Dhabi, raising a significant sum for SOS Children's Villages in Lebanon again with the support of Gulf for Good.
ABOUT THE CHARITY:
Funds raised through this campaign will support Soft Power Education in Uganda.
Since 1999, Soft Power has been working with communities in Uganda with a mission of: “improving quality of life through education”. SPE focuses its work within rural areas of Uganda, on three key related areas:
- Alternative Education - supplementing mainstream education with innovative ideas
- Livelihoods - empowering people to drive forward their own development
- School Infrastructure - providing safe, clean and inspiring learning environments
Up to date they have supported over 100,000 number of children in Uganda through different programs.
All fundraising efforts from this campaign will go towards completely renovating seven classrooms at the Nkondo Primary School where 605 pupils attend school. This renovation will ensure that the children are learning in safe and inspiring classrooms.
