This year's design aspires to forge a profound connection between the architectural essence of Bauhaus and the unifying spirit within the local communities influenced by Surge. Our creation exemplifies both utilitarian elegance and an avenue for individuals to express their creativity.
Whether used individually or grouped in clusters, our creation reflects Surge's fundamental principles, enriching the well-being of local communities.
Locale introduces life to Surge’s well areas and activates the zone where community “accidentally” meets when fetching water. Kids can play with it while their parents wait in queue, educational workshops can be hosted using Locale pieces, the elderly can grab a couple of Locale’s and rest after a long journey to the well, or even reuse it in a residential setting as shelving unit, storage, furniture, planting etc.
The core material of Locale is 100% sustainable and recyclable. Our piece is made of PSB (Palm Strand Boards) which are produced by upcycling palm waste, often burned or buried. They are locally manufactured bio-based, formaldehyde-free, durable palm strand boards, without the need to fell trees. These boards can further be recycled at the end of their life span.
