Woven Water - A Sanctuary Rewoven from a Forgotten Tree

Woven Water transforms the preserved bark of a dead tree into a sanctuary of connection, shelter, and renewal, drawing inspiration from the life-giving journey of water through nature. Just as water flows through landscapes, nourishes roots, and shapes the earth over time, threads travel across the tree’s branches and trunk, weaving together stories of nature, memory, and human connection.

Wrapped around the trunk like a protective embrace, the removable textile canopy creates a shaded sanctuary beneath the tree. Its flowing drapes evoke the movement and softness of water, offering a sense of coolness, refuge, and calm within the surrounding space. At the base, a natural hollow becomes an intimate nook where a child can sit, play, and pause, creating a personal connection with the installation. Like an oasis formed around a source of water, this sheltered space invites moments of rest, discovery, and togetherness. The woven canopy can be detached and repurposed as wearable shade or reimagined into other forms of portable shelter.

Rooted in sustainability, Woven Water is a reflection on the cyclical nature of life: how water nourishes, time transforms, and discarded things can become sources of new meaning.
