Annie & Phil Completed the Machu Picchu Challenge!
In July 2025, Annie and Phil took on an unforgettable adventure — joining Gulf for Good’s Machu Picchu Challenge to hike the iconic Inca Trail in Peru. It was no easy feat, but every step was taken with heart and purpose.
Phil tackled the full Inca Trail under incredibly tough conditions. His suitcase was lost en route, leaving him without any of his own hiking gear or equipment. On top of that, he battled through sickness and stomach issues for most of the trek. Yet despite the discomfort, he never once complained — instead, he quietly pushed one foot in front of the other, day after day, driven by the cause and the children we’re supporting.
Both Annie and Phil also visited the charity project in Cusco, where they were welcomed by the children with open arms. They joined in creative art activities, helped serve lunch, and shared a meal with the students — a truly moving and magical experience. The welcome dance took place in the outdoor multipurpose space funded by Gulf for Good — a vibrant area that brings the whole school together.
But there’s still work to be done.
We are now raising funds to resurface the multipurpose area with a softer, safer floor so children can play more freely and safely. The children also currently sit on cold, hard bleachers — we hope to raise enough to cover them in soft, comfortable seating material.
Annie and Phil may have completed the challenge, but the mission continues. Please consider donating to help us finish what we started — creating a safer, happier, and more inclusive environment for these amazing children.

Together, we can turn effort into lasting impact.
CHARITY PROJECT:
Chicuchas Wasi began in 1987, focusing on the society’s tolerated human rights violations of the many abandoned children, as young as 6 years old, surviving alone on the streets of Cusco, Peru. Chicuchas Wasi created a safe house that includes nutrition, healthcare, schooling, life skills, and much more.
Chicuchas Wasi School for Girls provides free, primary education, emphasizing on personal development, empowerment, and academics. They stress personal values, integrity, self-esteem, and social responsibility for an adult life of quality, dignity, gender equality, and financial independence. Chichuchas Wasi School maintains a big presence in the community with cultural celebrations, supporting social issues and women's issues, and spreading the value and importance of education for girls.
The school currently does not have an indoor facility larger than a classroom to host events, sports, theatre presentations, or otherwise. The goal is to fundraise to build a dry multipurpose room for such activities.
