Help Pakistani Children Go to School
Hi! We are Arisa Akbar (10) and Manaal Akbar (9), and we both study at JPS. We are raising awareness about an important issue that affects millions of children in Pakistan. Right now, 26.2 million children in Pakistan are out of school, and more than half of them are girls. This is a major crisis, especially for children living in urban slums and poor rural areas. Many of these children do not get the opportunity to learn how to read and write, study maths and science, make friends at school, or build a brighter future for themselves. We believe that every child deserves the chance to receive an education.
One organization working hard to solve this problem is The Citizens Foundation (TCF). TCF is a professionally managed non-profit organization that builds and operates schools in some of the most underserved communities across Pakistan. Today, TCF runs 2,261 school units and educates around 320,000 deserving students. It employs 16,500 female teachers and principals, making it the largest private employer of women in Pakistan. In fact, The Economist has described TCF as “perhaps the largest network of independently run schools in the world.”
This cause is very important to us because children in Pakistan’s slums deserve the same opportunities that we have. They deserve classrooms, books, caring teachers, and hope for a better future. Education has the power to completely transform their lives. You can help by donating any amount, sharing our campaign, sponsoring a school, or simply spreading awareness. Every small action can make a big difference.
