Free them from blindness this Ramadan

Imagine the daily struggle, where even the simplest tasks like cooking or reading become daunting challenges as your vision fades, your independence stripped away as you grow more dependent on those around you.

This is the harsh reality faced by 26 million people currently suffering from visual impairment in Pakistan. What’s more devastating is that only 65% of our patients are eligible for Zakat.

Sight is a fundamental right for every individual; no man woman or child deserves to go blind simply because they cannot afford treatment.

For the price of a two-course meal, you could cure a child of their blindness for good. It’s just that easy.

Donate now and help free them from blindness.

What we’ve done

With nearly 40 years of unwavering dedication, Graham Layton Trust has been a beacon of hope, operating 56 eye centres and 19 hospitals in Pakistan, with a 20th in the works.

Healthcare has come a long way, and something as debilitating as cataracts or glaucoma, which affects one in ten Pakistanis can be treated in less than half an hour.

Together, we’ve transformed the lives of over 55 million patients, performing an average of 1000 surgeries every single day. Through this hard work we’re proud to say we've halved the cases of blindness in Pakistan.

Meet Mehwish: A Mother of Three Sees Again

One of our stories follows Mehwish who bought low quality over the counter lenses from a non-specialist shop to look her best for her brother’s wedding. After experiencing severe discomfort throughout the day, Mehwish continued to wear them.

What she didn’t know was that the low-grade lens scratched her corneas, severely reducing her vision.

What saved her was the quick response from her husband, who sought immediate medical attention, and our LRBT doctors that recognised she had used low grade lenses, fast tracking her to emergency surgery for immediate cornea transplant surgery.

Thanks to the compassionate care provided by LRBT, the dedication of its partners, and the support of patrons like you, Mehwish is no longer restricted by her loss of vision.
