Over the past two years, Lebanon has faced two daunting challenges in the form of the Coronavirus pandemic and the economic crisis, both of which have put the future of the youth in jeopardy. With the presence of the Coronavirus and the surge in online education, students’ level of education has fallen behind. Due to the lack of suitable infrastructure in Lebanon, specifically in electricity supply, and the lack of experience in online studying, students have not been able to receive the level of education enjoyed by previous generations. In addition, the unpredictable fluctuations of the dollar exchange rate, the uncompensated salaries, and the hyper-inflation that Lebanon has been going through, students had to drop out of school seeking a job to cope with their critical financial status or transfer to academic institutions with a lower level of education.

In the past academic year 2021/2022, Ajialouna was able to provide more than 1,200 students with educational assistance by granting them scholarships whose percentages varied between 30% and 100%.

Unfortunately, with the restructuring system of the tuition fees and the requirements for more than 50% up to 100% of the tuition fees to be settled in fresh dollars, the number of dropouts from schools and universities will increase dramatically, and the number of students that we will be able to help will drop by more than half.
