- SAKEENA HIKES 'THE SALKANTAY TRAIL' TO MACHU PICCHU
IN AID OF MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES (MSF)
Back in December 2020, I took part in my first charity challenge. I, along with my colleagues, cycled 170kms across the Northern Emirates to raise funds that would help rebuild home of families affected by the blast in Lebanon. We successfully managed to raise around AED 92,000, which put a smile on the faces of at least 6 families as they witnessed their houses being restored.
Now, I am back and ready to take on another challenge of hiking 70kms across the Salkantay trail to reach Machu Picchu in Peru, alongside my colleagues from Omnicom Media Group. We will be hiking across the trail over a course of 10 days from the 20th to 30th of October.
The charity organization we are supporting through this challenge is Medecins Sans Frontieres, also known as Doctors Without Borders, where doctors and medical professional selflessly volunteer to provide medical aid to people affected by conflict, disasters, epidemics and those who are lacking sufficient healthcare.

For the previous challenge, my colleagues and I managed to go above and beyond our goal only through all your love and generous donations. I just want to thank you and hope that you will support me again by giving generously in aid of this great cause. All funds, whatever amount, are highly appreciated and would continue to encourage me as I train to complete this challenge.
The charity challenge is held in association with a local not-for-profit organisation “Gulf for Good” and is approved by the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department, Licence No. 4013.
To be transparent about the funds that will be donated:
75% of funds raised go to MSF.
15% of funds raised go to Gulf for Good (not-for-profit organisation in the UAE and registered UK charity) for their sustainability.
10% of funds raised go to International Humanitarian City for their emergency response work.
Thank you so much for reading this and for all your love and support throughout this journey!
