According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. It is a statistic that is both shocking and heartbreaking, and one that has become deeply personal to me.

Over the years, far too many people close to me have battled breast cancer, including my own mum. Watching her go through that journey with such strength, courage and resilience changed the way I see the disease. Thankfully, she came out the other side, but not everyone is as fortunate. That's why this cause means so much to me.

To do my small part, I'll be taking on the Namibia Desert Dash to raise awareness and funds for Al Jalila Foundation. Covering 401 kilometres across the Namib Desert in under 24 hours, with more than 3,000 metres of climbing, it's one of the toughest mountain bike races in the world. There will be moments where I'll want to stop, but they won't compare to the challenges faced by those living with breast cancer every day.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help Al Jalila Foundation continue raising awareness, supporting patients and investing in local breast cancer research to improve treatment outcomes.
