According to IFRC, in Somalia, 5.6 million people are currently food insecure and 2.8 million people cannot meet their daily food requirements due to the compounding impacts of extended drought, flooding, desert locust infestations.
Ikram Charitable Foundation, in coordination with the local authorities in the targeted areas of lower Shabeele, where most of the threatened communities are situated, had identified that most of the death cases so far occurred in women and children, where due to the lack of food, which is a result of the drought.
