Indus Yaqeen - Youth Ambassador

Story

My name is Rayan Hassan- I am 13 years old, from Pakistan, studying in Year 8 in Dubai College and I have chosen to become an Indus Youth Ambassador to support this wondrous cause.

Cancer is a horrific disease that ravages a child's body and in Pakistan approximately 8,000 children are diagnosed with cancer annually, the majority of them with restricted access to affordable healthcare. However, these lives can be saved with access to sufficient treatment and medical facilities. The Indus Hospital and Health Network is the only hope for these children, as it provides quality and free of cost care for the impoverished and underprivileged of Pakistan.
With your support, we can help Indus save the lives of these thousands of underprivileged and desperate children who are in dire need of YOUR help.

My Experience at Indus

My first visit to Indus Hospital was in 2019, when I visited the Paediatric Oncology ward at the hospital in Karachi. This moving experience resonated with me and left me wanting to learn more, so in December, 2021, I again visited as an Indus Youth Volunteer to learn more about the organisation. It was touching to see that the staff did not only consider the treatment of patients, but also their mental wellbeing. The employees of the hospital put an extensive amount of effort into making their patients' experience more endurable. This made me think of how I can contribute to this great cause, and along came the Indus Yaqeen programme which I am excited to participate actively in.

During my visit in 2021, I also met with an 8-year-old boy named Hussnain. He had lost his mother and his leg in a motorbike accident a few years prior. He was an energetic, exuberant boy, but the incident had severely affected him. His father had said that he would be in a constant state of sadness and was unable to do simple things which we take for granted, like playing with his friends. They had tried to get him prosthetics from other hospitals, but they were always uncomfortable, fragile and not very affordable. Once they heard about Indus, they decided to give it a try and the prosthetic they were given was perfect for Hussnain AND free of cost. When I met Hussnain, he was not the dejected boy his father had said he once was- here was a boy full of joy, running around and climbing trees; and all thanks to Indus.

This is just one of the many heart-warming stories of lives being saved by Indus.

Many children's lives and futures may depend on the funds we can raise here, and every dirham you donate counts.
