Run for Water: Every Step Brings Life-Saving Water to Africa

Join us in the Dubai Marathon 2025 to make a real difference for Africa’s people, wildlife, and environment. 

By supporting water projects through the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), you will be directly impacting the lives of over 5,000 individuals and countless animals.

 The project aims to alleviate the impact of drought on affected communities in the Horn of Africa (Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Uganda, and Kenya) while addressing the potential conflict between people and wildlife over water resources. This is achieved through two main approaches:

Providing urgent drinking water: Large tankers are used to transport water from available wells to affected areas, ensuring quick access to water for communities experiencing severe shortages. This reduces competition over scarce water resources, minimizing the risk of conflict between humans and wildlife.

Sustainable solutions: The focus is on securing long-term water sources by:

Drilling new wells in areas lacking access to water.

Cleaning and maintaining non-functional wells to ensure a continuous water supply over the long term.

Designing water access points in ways that cater to both human and wildlife needs, promoting peaceful coexistence.

This integrated approach addresses immediate humanitarian needs, plans for lasting solutions, and fosters harmony between people and wildlife in water-stressed regions.
