Omnicom Media Group - TREKKING RWANDA AND UGANDA FOR MSF

Story

Omnicom Media Group MENA will be trekking in Uganda and Rwanda to raise funds for the MSF reconstructive surgery hospital in Amman.

The Reconstructive Surgery Programme (RSP) was established in 2006 to treat victims of war and violence with complicated injuries - primarily from Palestine, Iraq, Yemen and Syria. The hospital is unique in that it offers orthopaedic, plastic and maxillofacial surgery, as well as a package of holistic care services to ensure that people make a full physical and mental recovery.

During my first 3 years with Omnicom Media Group, I was based in Beirut and was on-ground on 4 August 2020 when the port explosion decimated our offices.

In the days following, I worked hand-in-hand with our employees and volunteers to clear the debris and start rebuilding our offices (and get married in between). I witnessed the support that was extended by NGOs on the ground and how critical it was in the absence of any meaningful response or aid from the government.

I also believe in the importance of raising awareness for causes through physical challenges. In 2018, I was part of a crew that participated in The Speed Project, running from Los Angeles to Las Vegas over the course of 3 days. Part of our crowdfunding effort was to support a Lebanese NGO which focused on cancer research and prevention.

Now based in Dubai, I jumped at the chance to participate in this year’s Charity Challenge in the “Land of Gorillas” to make a difference along with my fellow OMG’ers.

OMG MENA has been supporting Médecins Sans Frontières for the past 4 years given their neutrality, advocacy and work in hard-to -reach areas.
