Safe water keeps children alive and healthy.

 Every child has the right to clean water.

The consequences of unsafe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) on children can be deadly.

Every day over 700 children under age 5 die of diseases due to a lack of WASH services. Millions of children go to school with no access to clean water, making learning difficult - with devastating consequences for their future.

Dubai Heights Academy in collaboration with Dubai Municipality will be holding a beach clean for the children to have a unique hands on learning experience in preserving their environment and keeping our oceans clean as well as helping preserve marine life.

Children who do not have access to clean water face a greater risk of infections and diarrhoeal diseases. 

Fatima is 10 months old, she was admitted to a hospital in Sana’a, Yemen, after her mother grew concerned over Fatima’s month-long diarrhea. Medical staff found that she was suffering from a severe intestinal problem, vomiting, diarrhea, listlessness and a weakened pulse. Fatima was diagnosed with malnutrition and dehydration, resulting in kidney failure. She was put on a treatment programme which included fluids and antibiotics to help her recover back to good health.

UNICEF supports over 100 countries in establishing and rehabilitating WASH facilities in schools.
