Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has been providing urgently needed medical care amid pandemics and other emergencies for almost 50 years, in more than 70 countries. Since 2012, Herbert Smith Freehills has worked with MSF to provide pro bono legal assistance and financial contributions amongst other support, and we are pleased that MSF is our global charity partner. This support allows MSF to respond to emergencies as soon as they occur and give high-quality care to those who need it most.
HSF Dubai is taking part in the Dubai Marathon 2024 to raise funds for MSF's live-saving work assisting refugees in the Mediterranean. Every day, thousands of desperate refugees risk their lives crossing the treacherous waters of the Mediterranean in search of safety, but far too many never make it to shore. MSF is helping people trying to cross the central Mediterranean Sea with its own search and rescue vessel, the Geo Barents. Many of the people rescued by the Geo Barents have undertaken harrowing journeys. MSF has treated many for traumatic injuries, fuel burns, seasickness, and severe sunburns. Some need further care and require specialized assistance once they reach land.
The need is immense – and we want to do as much as we can to support MSF’s work and show solidarity with those who need urgent help. With your support, through MSF, we can help rescue, care for, and offer hope to those escaping conflict and perilous journeys. This campaign is registered in the UAE by the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) under permit number PRHCE-002121963.
