Unspooled - A Thread of Light. A Story of Connection.

A single thread may seem insignificant. But when woven with others, it becomes something extraordinary.

Shaped like an oversized spool of thread, Unspooled is a lamp crafted from recycled materials and repurposed textiles. At its heart is traditional Ifugao handwoven fabric from the Philippines, using excess fabric from House of Olga’s very first collection. Woven by Indigenous women of the Cordillera Mountains in the Philippines, this textile carries generations of artistry, cultural heritage, and craftsmanship. Made to endure, it can be treasured and passed down through generations, preserving the stories and traditions woven into every strand.

As the fabric wraps around the lamp and gracefully unravels onto the ground, it symbolises how stories, cultures, and communities remain connected through a common thread. Its warm light illuminates the intricate weave, honouring the hands and traditions behind every strand.

UNSPOOLED is a celebration of heritage, conscious creation, and the beauty of human connection. A reminder that sustainability is not only about giving materials a second life but creating something meaningful enough to last for generations.

Different hands. Different stories. One common thread.

Each year the region’s A+D community comes together to celebrate sustainable designs in support of Surge’s mission to bring comprehensive Water+ solutions that include safe water, sanitation, hygiene and menstrual health to global communities. By purchasing this one-of-a-kind piece you are directly making an impact!
