KILIMANJARO CHALLENGE 2022
In aid of Foundation of African Empowerment, Enjoro Primary School
My goal this year is to climb and summit Mount Kilimanjaro - the roof of Africa.
At 5,895 meters Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano, is the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world; it is one of the Seven Summits.
I visited Africa for the first time last year. Africa is considered the poorest continent on Earth. Almost every second person living in the states of sub-Saharan Africa lives below the poverty line.
Seeing this up close with my own eyes had a huge impact on me and I knew I wanted to do something to to help. When I heard the Physical Training Company were organising a expedition that would raise funds to help children especially those with special educational needs and disabilities in Tanzania I knew without question I had to do it.
We will be raising essential funds for Enjoro Primary School in rural Tanzania to support the disabled children in their community with the essential equipment they need for day to day life.
This is definitely the biggest challenge I have ever set for myself.
10 months to get myself ready! Stay tuned!
—————
Over the course of 6 days from 30th September to 9th October, I will be climbing the Lemosho route on Mount Kilimanjaro, summiting at 5,895m.
This challenge will support Enjoro Primary School through the Foundation of African Empowerment (FAE) a not-for-profit non-governmental organization dedicated to improving access to quality inclusive education for all children especially those with special educational needs and disabilities in Tanzania through providing support services, awareness raising and advocacy.
To learn more about the FAE please visit https://www.thefaeafrica.org/ and to find out more about Gulf for Good click here: https://www.gulf4good.org
Please give generously in support of this great cause - all funds, whatever amount, are much needed and greatly appreciated.
Between our group of challengers, we aim to raise funds of over AED200,000.
The charity cycle is held in association with local not-for-profit Gulf for Good and is approved by the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department, Licence No. 30422.
- 75% of funds raised go to the FAE.
- 15% of funds raised go to Gulf for Good (NPO in the UAE and registered UK charity) for their sustainability.
- 10% of funds raised go to International Humanitarian City for their emergency response work.
