DEREK BELLIS TREKS THE ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP

RAISING FUNDS FOR MISSION HIMALAYA: CHILDREN'S ECO FARM IN NEPAL

CHARITY PROJECT:

Derek is supporting Mission Himalaya by raising funds for a solar back-up system. The existing solar panels can only support limited lights in certain areas of the home. There are also frequent power outages that can last for days, and the solar back-up system is required for an uninterrupted electrical supply.

Mission Himalaya was founded in 2008 by a group of socially committed professionals whose goal was to provide aid in a sustainable manner to the rural and back-tracked Nepalese communities, and to the orphaned and homeless children of Nepal. Their primary project has been the Children’s Eco Home & Farm in Kavre, Panauti where they provide a self-sustaining, environmentally friendly home for children who have been abandoned or orphaned.

FUNDRAISING:

Derek's trek is held in association with local not-for-profit Gulf for Good, whose purpose is to change the lives of underprivileged children around the world.

The breakdown of how donations are distributed are as follows:

- 71% of funds raised go to Mission Himalaya: Children's Eco Farm

- 15% of funds raised go to Gulf for Good (not-for-profit in the UAE and registered UK charity) for their sustainability

- 10% of funds raised go to International Humanitarian City for their emergency response work

- 4% of funds goes to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
