MACHU PICCHU: THE ICONIC INCA TRAIL
8th to 14th August, 2021
Gulf for Good challengers will be trekking to Machu Picchu in Peru to raise funds for children in Cusco from the 8th to the 14th of August 2021.
Our goal is to raise USD54,500 (AED200,000) to build a dry multipurpose room larger than a classroom for events, sports, theatre presentations or otherwise for Chichuchas Wasi, a comprehensive primary school for impoverished indigenous girls who attend free of charge. There are over 200 girls who attend daily. Cusco faces a lot of rain and sometimes extreme weather and the school currently does not have an indoor facility larger than a classroom for events, sports, theatre presentations, or otherwise.
Each participant is tasked with raising a minimum of AED5,000 (USD1,360) to support this project and, together, change the lives of these children and families.
This challenge is held in association with local not-for-profit Gulf for Good, whose purpose is to change the lives of underprivileged children around the world.
The breakdown of how donations are distributed are as follows:
- 65% of funds raised go to Chichuchas Wasi, Peru
- 25% of funds raised go to Gulf for Good (not-for-profit in the UAE and registered UK charity) for their sustainability
- 10% of funds raised go to International Humanitarian City for their emergency response work
