Project GCC is going to push me further than anything I have ever attempted before. I’ll be running approximately 1,700km across the GCC, pushing my body and mind to their limits.
But the important thing to remember is that I am choosing to do this.
Children diagnosed with cancer don’t get that choice. Their families don’t get to choose the fear, uncertainty and heartbreak that comes with hearing the words, “your child has cancer.”
That is why I have chosen to use Project GCC to raise money for Al Jalila Foundation and support children whose families may otherwise be unable to afford the life-saving cancer treatment they need.
There will undoubtedly be moments during this challenge when I am exhausted, in pain and questioning whether I can keep moving forward. In those moments, I want to remind myself that what I am going through is temporary — and that there are children and families fighting battles far greater than mine every single day.
If putting myself through 1,700km can raise awareness, bring people together and help even one child access the treatment they need, then every difficult kilometre will be worth it.
100% of the money raised will go towards supporting children’s cancer treatment and research through Al Jalila Foundation.
I’m asking anyone who follows this journey, supports Project GCC or simply believes in the cause to donate whatever they can. No amount is too small.
I’ll do the running. Together, hopefully we can make those kilometres mean something much bigger.
