In Gaza, the reality of the situation on the ground, after more than a year of intense hostilities, is indescribable. Countless people, families and communities in and around Gaza have had their lives shattered as hostilities have carried on with an alarming intensity. There is a lack of food, drinking water, sanitation, health care, and safety. Babies have been born and killed in this conflict – this is the reality of the situation people are facing right now. There is no time to think of the future – as people are forced to focus on getting only through the next minutes or hours, trying to keep their families safe, if they can.
In response to this humanitarian catastrophe, the ICRC continues its efforts to mount an immediate response to the massive humanitarian needs in and around Gaza. We are providing life saving care and assistance for people to meet their essential needs.
