My name is Maryam, I am 19 years old and live in Abu Dhabi. I am privileged enough to have the chance to receive quality education in the UAE and study abroad for university, but it is not that easy for those in Pakistan in their education crisis. There are over 26 million children, nearly 40% of Pakistan’s children, who are out of school let alone receiving an inadequate level of education. This is not only an educational issue, but also a gender one, as more than half of these numbers are girls who are out of school.
The Citizens Foundation (TCF) is a nonprofit focused on providing formal education for the underprivileged within the country through building and running schools in Pakistan’s urban slums and rural areas with an emphasis on equal enrollment in terms of gender. So far, there are over 2000 schools in all provinces of the country. The schools also have an all-female staff of over 14,000 teachers and principals.
As apart of TCF’s Ambassadors of Change Program this summer, I am fundraising to help support children and their education within these schools to give them equal accessibility and opportunity to education and further career options. You can contribute using my campaign on the YallaGive website to support the education of these underprivileged children. For just AED 50, you can support one child’s education for one month, and for AED 600 they can receive education at TCF schools for an entire year! Let’s make a difference, no matter the size of the contribution, and support Pakistan’s future.
