ENGLISH CHANNEL DISTANCE SWIM ATTEMPT

In aid of LEBANON (Lebanese Red Cross)

This weekend, long-term Dubai resident Martin Bond will attempt the pool swim of all pool swims - a 33km swim in Fit Republik’s pool here in Dubai!

33km represents the approximate distance of a Channel Swim from England to France! Why on earth…??? Martin had been part of a Channel Relay team which was scheduled to cross from Folkestone to Calais this summer, however COVID travel restrictions meant that the Channel attempt was cancelled. In its place, Martin has committed to a SOLO ATTEMPT at the Channel distance, swimming the 33km in the pool at Fit Republik in Sports City, Dubai.

This is a huge endurance swim attempt, all in the name of a great cause. The charitable swim is held in association with local charity Gulf For Good, and the event is approved by the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department, Licence No. 3255.

Much-needed funds are being raised for Lebanon; specifically the Lebanese Red Cross through Gulf for Good, a Dubai based not for profit that implements sustainable projects in the developing world, taking people on adventure challenges to raise money to help make a real difference in the lives of underprivileged kids. Since 2001, Gulf for Good has organised over 87 challenges, with over 1545 participants, in 27 countries, in support of 61 children’s charities; raising over US$3.9 million, building schools, children’s homes, hospitals, and more, changing the lives of countless children around the world.

It is expected to take Martin approximately 12 hours of swimming to complete the 33km, starting at 0530am and swimming through until the early evening.

Please give generously in support of this great cause - all funds, whatever amount, are much needed and greatly appreciated.

75% of funds raised go to the Lebanese Red Cross

15% of funds raised go to Gulf for Good (NPO in the UAE and registered UK charity) for their sustainability

10% of funds raised go to International Humanitarian City for their emergency response work
