"11.5: Edge of Life" is a global Ramadan campaign launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to rescue 5 million children from hunger and protect 30 million more from malnutrition.
Operating under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), the campaign responds to the urgent global hunger crisis affecting children in the world’s most vulnerable communities, particularly those impacted by conflict, displacement, and climate-related disasters.
“11.5” represents the critical mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) measurement used to detect severe acute malnutrition. A reading below 11.5 cm signals life-threatening risk — a narrow line between survival and tragedy.
In partnership with UNICEF, Save the Children, Children's Investment Fund Foundation, and Action Against Hunger, the campaign calls on individuals and institutions to act now and support life-saving interventions that protect children’s right to life, growth, and dignity.
The campaign aims to provide individuals and institutions with the opportunity to give generously toward saving millions of children from hunger, while fostering the values of compassion, solidarity, and empathy by extending aid to the most vulnerable.
