Challenge Description

In October 2026, a team of 12 Gulf for Good challengers will embark on the Mystery Challenge — a unique adventure where the destination and challenge are kept secret until the journey begins.

This year, the team will travel to Kenya to take on the incredible challenge of trekking Mount Kenya, combining adventure, endurance and purpose in support of vulnerable children and communities.

As part of the journey, the challengers will also visit the Smile Community Centre, which supports abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable children and families in Kenya. The visit will give the team an opportunity to meet the people behind the project, understand the challenges they face and see first-hand how their fundraising can help create lasting change.

Ahead of the challenge, the team is fundraising to support the Smile Community Centre in taking a major step towards establishing a permanent and secure home for the children in its care.

Through every kilometre trekked and every donation raised, the Mystery Challenge team will be helping build the foundations for a safer and more sustainable future for vulnerable children in Kenya.

Charity Project Description

Your donation will support Gulf for Good's partnership with the Smile Community Centre in Kenya and its plans to establish a permanent Children's Home.

The Smile Community Centre currently operates from rented, temporary and capacity-constrained facilities in Soweto Slum, Kayole, in the eastlands of Nairobi. The centre provides care and support to abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable children while also delivering community initiatives including educational support, feeding programmes and life skills development.

The project will support the acquisition of two plots of land, each measuring approximately 50 by 100 feet, in Malaa, Machakos County. Securing this land represents the first major step towards transitioning the Smile Community Centre from temporary rented facilities into a permanent, safe and sustainable home.

Funds raised through this challenge will contribute towards:

• The acquisition of land for the future Smile Community Centre Children's Home.
• Comprehensive legal due diligence and verification of land ownership to help ensure the property is securely and appropriately acquired.
• Obtaining valid title deeds to establish long-term ownership and security for the project.
• Initial site infrastructure, including perimeter fencing, to secure and protect the property.
• Laying the foundations for the future development of a dedicated Children's Home where vulnerable children can be rescued, nurtured, rehabilitated and empowered.

Once developed, the centre is intended to provide a permanent sanctuary for children while continuing to serve the wider community through educational support, feeding programmes, life skills training and other community development initiatives.

The project is expected to directly support **85 beneficiaries**, while creating the foundation for a facility that can serve vulnerable children and families for years to come.

FUNDRAISING

This challenge is held in association with Gulf for Good, a UAE-based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged children and communities worldwide.

Funds raised through the Mystery Challenge will support the Smile Community Centre Children's Home project in Kenya, beginning with the acquisition and securing of land for its future permanent home.

The project funding will be released in milestone-based instalments to support accountability, transparency and effective oversight throughout the development.

The breakdown of how donations are distributed is as follows:

75% of funds raised go towards the charitable project, supporting the Smile Community Centre and the development of its future Children's Home in Kenya.

15% of funds raised go to Gulf for Good, supporting the management, monitoring and delivery of charitable projects and the organisation's ongoing work supporting vulnerable children and communities.

10% of funds raised go to Dubai Humanitarian for their emergency response initiatives.
